I’m Laura, 35 years old, originally from Laren. From the age of 14, I suffered from lower back and pelvic pain due to falling out of a tree when I was 8. Ten years ago, the pain in my lower back and hips worsened, so I decided to have everything examined.
The conclusion:
Osteoarthritis in my back and hips, SI joint dysfunction, hyperlordosis, and hip dysplasia. With two new hips and lower back surgery in sight at the age of 23, I decided to take matters into my own hands and, on someone’s recommendation, I tried Pilates.
The beginning was tough, but after 3–4 weeks it improved: I was amazed at what the body could do without heavy weights or complicated gym machines — just using my own bodyweight.
My posture improved, I became stronger and more flexible, and the pain decreased. It changed my life, and thankfully those surgeries are now a thing of the past.
My goal now is to give others a similar experience in their bodies to the one I once had. For that reason, I decided to start a Pilates training program and become an instructor.
